LEICESTER are gearing up for another bumper weekend of Speedway with three meetings in as many days.
The Watling JCB Lions travel to Redcar on Friday before hosting the Bears at the Paul Chapman and Sons Arena on Saturday (7.30) as they look to extend their lead at the top of the Championship table.
Attentions then turn to the Knockout Cup on Sunday (3.30) when they head to Eastbourne as they aim to set things up nicely for the home second leg return on Friday, July 5.
And these are hugely positive times for Leicester Speedway.
Promoter Neil Machin said: “The club’s supporters and local residents in and around the Leicester area should feel extremely proud of what is currently happening at this club.
“We’ve got a senior team who are in some truly outstanding form and let’s not forget the wonderful achievement they pulled off last weekend by reaching a first national final in the modern era of this club.
“Everyone at Leicester has gone through some pretty tough times in recent years – but that is well and truly in the past now and boy are there some exciting months ahead of us.
“Not only are our senior team doing the business but we’ve also got a development league side who are doing everyone proud too.
“The Roger Webster Lion Cubs have claimed maximum points in the National League so far to put them top of the standings and they too have progressed in their Knockout Cup to reach the semi-finals.
“It’s been a long time since there was a buzz around the place like there currently is and we need the supporters to keep coming and supporting both teams in good numbers because 2019 really could prove to be a year to remember for all the right reasons!”
The Lions have secured the services of talented teenager Jason Edwards for this weekend’s two fixtures against Redcar following Jack Thomas’ decision to take a break from the sport.
